‘I Am the Pan Man’: Yungblud Credits Ex Jessie Jo Stark for Helping Him Find His Truth”

British singer-songwriter Yungblud, known for his bold artistry and unapologetic honesty, has opened up about a deeply personal chapter of his life — his journey toward embracing his pansexuality. In a candid new interview with Attitude, where he appears as the latest cover star, the 27-year-old revealed how his former partner Jessie Jo Stark played a vital role in helping him accept himself fully.

The “Zombie” hitmaker, whose real name is Dominic Harrison, dated Stark for three years before their split in November 2023. Despite their breakup, he credits the singer and actor as being instrumental in his self-discovery. “Jessie is the most five-dimensional person I’ve ever met,” Yungblud said, recalling their time together. “She helped me navigate my sexuality even though she is completely straight. That’s something I’ll always be grateful for.”

A Breakup That Sparked Self-Reflection

While their relationship ultimately came to an end, Yungblud admitted that the separation was not about incompatibility but about his own struggles with self-acceptance. He described the split as a “me problem,” acknowledging that he needed to take time away from the relationship to figure out his own identity.

“I was so unhappy with myself — I didn’t love myself,” he explained. “I was kind of putting that on her and blah blah blah, when it was my fault. I needed time to go, ‘Dom, who are you, mate? What do you want? Because you don’t know right now.’”

For Yungblud, this period of introspection became a turning point. It allowed him to reconnect with who he truly is and embrace a label that gave him freedom rather than limitation.

“I Am the Pan Man — I’m the Saucepan”

In his own unfiltered style, Yungblud spoke about finding comfort in identifying as pansexual. “I am the pan man — I’m the f***ing saucepan,” he said with a laugh. “Because it’s the [label] that allows me to be who I am; it’s the one with the most room for manoeuvre. Do you know what I’m saying? I do feel like I am less insecure about it.”

For the artist, pansexuality has given him a sense of liberation, allowing him to define love and attraction on his own terms. It’s a message that aligns with the energy of his music — bold, inclusive, and often rooted in challenging societal norms.

From Cover Star to Pride Icon

Yungblud’s openness comes at a time when his star continues to rise, not only as a musician but also as a cultural voice for self-expression. Unveiled as Attitude’s cover star this week, he was also honored as a PRIDE ICON award winner at the Attitude PRIDE Awards, supported by PEUGEOT and British Airways, in London.

The recognition highlights his ongoing impact as an advocate for the LGBTQ+ community, someone unafraid to speak about identity, love, and the complexities of growing into oneself.

A Journey of Growth

Though his relationship with Jessie Jo Stark ended, Yungblud’s reflections reveal that it was also a catalyst for growth. Their time together, and her support even in the face of their differences, became a foundation for him to fully embrace who he is today.

For fans, Yungblud’s story is more than a personal confession — it’s a reminder that self-love often takes time and that sometimes the hardest lessons come from the most meaningful relationships.

As he continues to evolve both personally and artistically, Yungblud’s voice remains as powerful offstage as it is on. His willingness to share his journey not only breaks stigmas but also inspires others to embrace their true selves with confidence and pride.
