Back in 2009, the popular video game DJ Hero made waves with a massive 93-song in-game tracklist featuring some of the biggest names in music — including Beastie Boys, Foo Fighters, 50 Cent, David Bowie, Eminem, and JAY-Z.
To celebrate the launch, Eminem and JAY-Z performed their iconic collaboration “Renegade” live at the official DJ Hero launch party. Until now, fans mostly had to rely on fan-shot clips and photos, but it looks like the official video of the performance is finally available.
Eminem Shared Rare Gems for the Soundtrack
Eminem, who played a key role in curating his contributions to the game’s soundtrack, said at the time:
“The tracks we put on this disc are mostly overlooked or rarer favorites of mine from all different parts of my career. I also put a brand new, unheard song on there so even the biggest fan has something new.”
His involvement, along with JAY-Z’s, gave DJ Hero a unique edge in blending hip-hop with the DJ culture, which made the game a hit among fans of both genres.
Now, fans can revisit that historic moment and relive a legendary performance of “Renegade” — one of the most celebrated collaborations in rap history.
