Kelly Osbourne has fiercely defended her late father, Ozzy Osbourne, after Twisted Sister frontman Dee Snider made comments questioning the singer’s songwriting contributions.
The dispute began after Snider discussed claims that musicians including Bob Daisley and Geezer Butler had written lyrics for Ozzy during different stages of his career. Snider suggested that Ozzy had relied heavily on other musicians for lyrics and songwriting.

Kelly responded on social media, insisting that her father’s legacy as a musician, songwriter, singer and bandleader speaks for itself. She argued that Ozzy’s decades-long influence on rock and heavy metal cannot simply be reduced to questions about individual songwriting credits.
Her response then became considerably more personal. Kelly described Snider’s remarks as “spectacularly classless” and accused him of attempting to diminish her father’s reputation when he was no longer able to respond himself.

She also questioned whether the comments were an attempt to generate publicity, pointing out the enormous and lasting impact Ozzy had on music. Ozzy’s career spanned nearly six decades, beginning with Black Sabbath and continuing through his hugely successful solo career.
Snider subsequently clarified his position, saying that he had “nothing but love” for Ozzy and that Black Sabbath had changed his life. He explained that, as a songwriter himself, he was particularly sensitive to questions surrounding songwriting credits and royalties.
That clarification, however, did little to calm Kelly’s response.
Ozzy Osbourne died in July 2025 at the age of 76, shortly after performing what was announced as his final concert with Black Sabbath in Birmingham. His death prompted tributes from across the music world.
For Kelly, the latest exchange is clearly about more than a disagreement over songwriting credits. It is also about protecting the reputation of her father and the legacy he left behind.
Whatever the debate over individual songwriting contributions, Ozzy’s influence on heavy metal and popular culture remains firmly established. His work with Black Sabbath and his solo career made him one of the most recognisable figures in rock history.
And Kelly has made it clear that she has no intention of letting that legacy be casually rewritten.
