The third night of CMA Fest was packed with exciting moments, and one of the biggest surprises was when Keith Urban and Lainey Wilson sang together. On May 3, they released a fun new song called “GO HOME W U,” which was their first duet. Lainey has sung with other stars like Wynonna, Lauren Alaina, and Jelly Roll before, but this was her first time teaming up with Keith.
Lainey recently started her Country’s Cool Again Tour with two concerts in Nashville. During her show on June 1, she surprised everyone by inviting Keith Urban onstage to sing “GO HOME W U” with her. It was the first time they performed the song live for a crowd.
Just one week later, on June 8, Nashville fans got to see them sing it again! This time, it was during CMA Fest’s third night at Nissan Stadium. Keith was performing his new songs “Messed Up As Me” and “Straight Line” when he called Lainey to join him. She had already sung earlier that night, so she was ready to hop on stage with him for their duet.
After they finished singing “GO HOME W U,” Keith told the crowd some big news about Lainey. The night before, on June 7, she became a new member of the Grand Ole Opry, which is a huge honor for country singers. “Lainey Wilson, the newest member of the Grand Ole Opry!” Keith shouted, and everyone cheered for her.
The whole festival was recorded for a TV special that aired on ABC on June 25. Keith and Lainey’s surprise performance was included, so even more people got to see them sing together. You can watch their duet below!
