Eminem is officially back — and he’s coming in hot. The rap legend has just released “Houdini,” the first single from his upcoming 12th solo studio album, The Death of Slim Shady (Coup De Grâce), which is expected to drop this summer.
The new track has fans buzzing — and even celebs like Big Sean and LeBron James are showing love.
A Classic Shady Comeback
Eminem kicks off the song with a signature touch — a humorous voicemail from his longtime manager Paul Rosenberg, who says:
“Hey Em, it’s Paul. I was listening to the album… Good f–king luck, you’re on your own.”
The track opens with a nod to Em’s 2002 hit “Without Me,” as he raps:
“Guess who’s back, back again / Shady’s back, tell a friend.”
Produced by Eminem and Luis Resto, “Houdini” features a catchy hook that samples Steve Miller Band’s 1982 classic “Abracadabra.” Em even drops a bar referencing the Megan Thee Stallion and Tory Lanez incident, spitting:
“If I was to ask for Megan Thee Stallion if she would collab with me / Would I really have a shot at a feat? I don’t know, but I’m glad to be back.”
The Music Video: A “Without Me” Throwback
The music video for “Houdini” is a creative tribute to Eminem’s early 2000s visuals. Styled like a comic book, just like “Without Me,” it shows Eminem traveling through a portal back to 2002, where he meets his younger self.
The video features a star-studded lineup of cameos, including:
- 50 Cent
- Dr. Dre
- Snoop Dogg
- Pete Davidson
- Royce Da 5’9”
- Denaun Porter
- The Alchemist
- Westside Boogie, GRIP, Ez Mil, and more
Together, both versions of Eminem — from 2002 and 2024 — rap side-by-side, making this one of his most entertaining visuals in years.
LeBron James Co-Signs “Houdini”
LeBron James gave the track a big shoutout on social media, tweeting:
“And just like that, HE’S BACK bruh! @eminem Houdini is too good!”
