Madonna has revealed herself to be a massive fan of Kendrick Lamar — again — praising the rapper’s latest album and calling him one of her all-time favorites.
In a video shared on Instagram on March 31, the 66-year-old pop icon was asked by The People’s Gallery about her current favorite song. Her response?
“Oh my God… Ummm… Anything on Kendrick Lamar’s new album,” she said, referencing his chart-topping 2024 LP GNX.
“I don’t play, okay?” she added confidently, making it clear her admiration is the real deal.
Not a New Admiration
This isn’t the first time Madonna has shown love for the Compton rapper. Back in 2022, during an appearance on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon, she openly expressed her desire to collaborate with Kendrick, praising his deeply introspective Mr. Morale & The Big Steppers.
“There’s one artist that I worship more than anything in life and I would love to collaborate with him, and that’s Kendrick Lamar,” she said at the time.
“His new record is history-making. Mind-bogglingly brilliant. It’s insane.”
While a joint project has yet to materialize, Madonna’s dream collab is still alive — and her repeated public praise could be planting the seeds for something down the line.
Madonna’s Long History With Hip-Hop
Though she rose to fame in the pop world, Madonna has always maintained strong ties to hip-hop, working with artists like Kanye West, Lil Wayne, Nas, Nicki Minaj, and Missy Elliott over the years. She’s also collaborated with major producers like Timbaland and Mike Dean, and famously had a close relationship with 2Pac before his untimely death in 1996.
Madonna’s evolving musical tastes — and her willingness to push genre boundaries — make her interest in Kendrick Lamar not only credible but possibly inevitable.
Rumored Romance with NLE Choppa
Adding to the buzz around Madonna’s cultural crossover moments, she was recently seen attending New York Fashion Week with Memphis rapper NLE Choppa, sparking dating rumors after he posted a picture of them together captioned: “c. u. n. t.”
The post quickly went viral, with fans speculating about a possible relationship. Neither Madonna nor Choppa has addressed the rumors publicly, but the pop icon has a known history of dating younger men following her split from director Guy Ritchie.
A Madonna x Kendrick Collab on the Horizon?
Though nothing official has been announced, Madonna’s continued praise for Kendrick — from his Mr. Morale era to GNX — suggests she’s not just a casual listener. Could a surprise collab be in the works?
For now, fans can only wait and wonder. But if there’s one thing both Kendrick and Madonna have mastered, it’s the art of the unexpected.
