Family and friends gathered on Thursday morning, March 20, to honor the lives of North Texas rapper Ronnie “G$ Lil Ronnie” Sibley and his 5-year-old daughter, R’Mani Sibley. The funeral was held at Great Commission Baptist Church in south Fort Worth, where loved ones shared heartfelt memories and celebrated their impact on others.

Ronnie and R’Mani were tragically killed on March 3 in a shooting at a car wash in Forest Hill.

At the church entrance, life-sized photos of the father and daughter welcomed mourners. One showed Ronnie holding baby R’Mani in his arms, another captured R’Mani with red roses, and a touching image from a recent “Valentine’s with Dad” event at her school featured the message: “Always in our hearts.”

Many guests wore pink, R’Mani’s favorite color, while others donned shirts with the words “Chuckie and Chink,” the nicknames for Ronnie and his daughter.

Forest Hill Mayor Pro Tem Keith R. Smith, who once taught Ronnie in fourth grade at Morningside Elementary School, wore a pink blazer in honor of R’Mani. He remembered Ronnie as a thoughtful child with a kind heart who loved to write.

“Ronnie was a thinker,” Smith said. “He had a good heart.”

Close friend Brian Gaiters, who met Ronnie in middle school, spoke about their 25-year friendship. He recalled how Ronnie’s smile lit up any room and shared memories of their childhood — from school days to getting their hair braided while wearing Allen Iverson sneakers.

“It’s rare for people from our neighborhood to find success,” Gaiters said. “But Chuckie did. He made it.”

Gaiters, now a law enforcement investigator, was on duty the day Ronnie and R’Mani were killed. His commanding officer told him to stay at the office, but Gaiters insisted on responding to the scene to honor his longtime friend.

“Chuckie and Chink, you will truly be missed,” Gaiters said. “Heaven gained two angels.”

Although she didn’t speak at the service, Sibley’s girlfriend and R’Mani’s mother, Shamon Jones, wrote a touching tribute in the funeral program. She described R’Mani as her joy and sunshine, with a smile that could brighten any day.

In her note about Sibley, Jones recalled meeting him in middle school and how his bright smile left a lasting impression. She described him as a loving partner and a father whose memory will forever live in her heart.

Ronnie Sibley leaves behind his longtime partner, Shamon Jones, and his oldest daughter, Iyanna Sibley.

Two suspects, 24-year-old Adonis Robinson and 21-year-old Jakobie Russell, have been arrested and charged with capital murder in connection to the tragic shooting.
