In a special ABC News program called *Bruce Springsteen: Backstage and Backstreets*, Bruce Springsteen shared a sweet story about his early marriage to Patti Scialfa. They got married in 1991, and Bruce told reporter George Stephanopoulos how Patti helped him become a better husband and dad.
Bruce said he used to be a “lazy musician,” sleeping late until 11 a.m. while their kids were already up and heading to school. One night, Patti gently told him, “You don’t have to get up early, but if you don’t, you’ll miss out on special moments with our family. Just get up tomorrow and make pancakes.”
The next morning at 6:30 a.m., Bruce woke up—grumpy but determined—and made pancakes for the family. It was a small change, but it meant a lot to him and his kids.
Bruce and Patti first met at The Stone Pony, a famous music spot in Asbury Park, New Jersey. Patti joined Bruce’s band, the E Street Band, in 1984, and they later had three children: Evan, Jessica, and Samuel.
The TV special, airing on October 20, 2024, on ABC, will show more of Bruce’s life and music. It will also be available to watch on Hulu and Disney+ the next day. This program comes just before another exciting project, a documentary called *Road Diary: Bruce Springsteen and the E Street Band*, which comes out on October 25, 2024.
