Paul McCartney Stunned by Elton John’s Epic Final UK Show at Glastonbury

On Sunday evening at Glastonbury, Sir Paul McCartney stood on the side of the stage, watching his good friend Sir Elton John give his last big concert in the UK. Just a year ago, Paul had been the star of the show at the same festival, singing his famous Beatles songs for thousands of fans. This time, he was there with his wife Nancy, enjoying the sunset, and his daughter Stella, cheering for Elton.

Sir Elton, who is 76, walked on stage in a shiny gold suit and sat at his piano. Fireworks lit up the sky as he started with a fun song called “Pinball Wizard” by The Who. He played for two hours, singing 21 songs, including four with special guests, and ended with his big hit “Rocket Man.” Hundreds of thousands of people came to see him at Worthy Farm, and he almost cried because it was such a special night—the last time he’d perform in the UK after his long goodbye tour.

Paul, who is 81, knows all about big shows. Last year, he rocked the Pyramid Stage at Glastonbury with stars like Dave Grohl and Bruce Springsteen joining him. That concert was supposed to happen earlier, but it got delayed because of the coronavirus. Now, he was happy to watch Elton shine.

Elton’s show was full of surprises. He sang a song called “Don’t Let the Sun Go Down on Me” for his friend George Michael, who would have turned 60 that day. Elton said George was an amazing singer and friend, and the crowd loved the tribute. He also played other hits like “Bennie and the Jets” and “Daniel,” and told everyone, “I never thought I’d play Glastonbury, but here I am!”

Fans noticed Paul watching from the side and loved it. One person wrote online, “Paul McCartney watching all the artists is so cool!” Another said, “Elton’s piano playing is awesome, and Paul must be amazed!” People were excited to see two music legends together.

Elton had some friends join him on stage too. He sang with Jacob Lusk and a gospel choir, then with a young singer named Stephen Sanchez for a song called “Until I Found You.” Later, Brandon Flowers from The Killers came out in a red jacket to sing “Tiny Dancer” with him. Rina Sawayama also joined for “Don’t Go Breaking My Heart.” Every time, Elton got emotional, even taking off his famous red glasses to wipe away tears.

The night ended with classics like “Goodbye Yellow Brick Road” and “Your Song.” It was a big, happy party for Elton’s last UK show, and Paul was there to see it all. Backstage, Elton even met with Charlotte Tilbury, who helps his charity, making the night extra special.

For kids and grown-ups alike, it was a night of music, friendship, and fun—a perfect way to say goodbye to Elton’s UK concerts!
