Music queen Reba McEntire is set to return to her vibrant red Coach’s chair in The Voice Season 28. Amid a flurry of exciting projects, it’s hard to imagine how she finds time to rest or bake her “addictively delicious” signature cookies.
How to Watch
Tune in to The Voice on Mondays and Tuesdays at 8/7c on NBC and catch up the next day on Peacock.
Given McEntire’s busy schedule, it’s no surprise that she has a special space in her home for some “me time.” Yet, being the multitasking pro she is, she still finds time to travel with her son, Shelby Blackstock, and share plenty of laughs with her partner, Rex Linn.
Notable Projects
McEntire is not just returning to The Voice alongside coaches like Snoop Dogg, Niall Horan, and Michael Bublé; she is also busy with her NBC sitcom, Happy’s Place. In February 2025, the comedy, which features her real-life best friend Melissa Peterman and boyfriend Rex Linn, was renewed for a second season set to premiere this fall.
In another acting venture, McEntire announced in January 2025 that she will produce and star in the film adaptation of Fannie Flagg’s New York Times bestselling novel, The All-Girl Filling Station’s Last Reunion. “I’ve always been a fan of Fannie Flagg and her writing, and it’s been an honor to call her my friend for the past decade,” McEntire shared with Deadline. “I cannot wait to work with this incredible team to bring another one of her special stories to life on the big screen.”
McEntire is also working on new music. At the 60th Academy of Country Music Awards in May 2025, hosted by McEntire, the Grammy winner debuted “Trailblazer,” a new single featuring Lainey Wilson and Miranda Lambert. She describes the song as a “heartfelt tribute to the pioneering women of country music who paved the way for future generations.”
Earlier in 2025, McEntire performed at NBC’s Opry 100: A Live Celebration, where she sang “The Night the Lights Went Out in Georgia” with Trisha Yearwood and danced the night away with Linn in the audience.
Reba’s Place: A Culinary Success
Her restaurant, Reba’s Place, in Atoka, Oklahoma, is thriving. Local news reports that over 300,000 guests from across the U.S. have dined there since its opening in 2023. With menu items like Bloody Marys, biscuits and gravy, and dill pickle cheese curds, it’s easy to see why.
A Happy Milestone
On March 28, 2025, McEntire celebrated her 70th birthday and shared some simple life tips for feeling her best in this new decade—one of which is her long-time boyfriend.
“Lots of hydration, lots of sleep, eat good, and be happy. Being happy is the main thing … I think I am the happiest I’ve ever been in my life,” she told Extra in May 2025, adding that Linn is a significant reason for her happiness.
“He’s the love of my life, and we have so much fun together,” she said. “He supports me, I support him. Whatever we do together, we have fun.”
Excitement for The Voice Season 28
In May 2025, McEntire appeared on Late Night and beamed when Seth Meyers mentioned her return as a Coach for The Voice Season 28. “Oh my gosh,” she exclaimed, noting that she didn’t expect the show to be this much fun.
“I was really dreading it at first because I don’t want to tell anybody they suck,” she confessed. “But the way we did it the first time I was on The Voice was more helpful and encouraging.”
Having previously worked with rap icon Snoop Dogg, Irish heartthrob Niall Horan, and Canadian crooner Michael Bublé, McEntire knows that the Season 28 Coaches are a “nice” group. “We’re nice people,” she said. “We encourage. We lift up.”
