A 31-year-old surgical technologist left all four coaches on The Voice captivated with a breathtaking performance of Oleta Adams’ “Get Here,” earning a coveted four-chair turn and setting off a fierce battle for her talent. Chari impressed Kelly Clarkson, Riley Green, Queen Latifah and Adam Levine with her powerful vocals, but it was Queen Latifah who ultimately won her over with an emotional pitch that revealed just how much the singer meant to her.
Before stepping onto the stage, Chari opened up about her love of music and the parents who inspired her. Both have since passed away, making her song choice particularly meaningful. Kelly Clarkson also made it clear that Chari represented exactly the kind of talent the competition was designed to discover.
“You were literally why this show was created, to find people like you who were passing a scalpel but needed to be up on stage,” Clarkson said, highlighting the remarkable journey from her work as a surgical technologist to the spotlight.
“You’re just very talented,” she added.
Adam Levine Makes a Bold Pitch
Determined to bring Chari onto his team, Levine made an ambitious argument for why she should choose him as her coach.
He asked whether she knew who had won the previous season before explaining that he had heard something special in her voice.
“There’s a classic thing that the winner of the show has to have. I have not heard that until just now,” Levine said.
He then delivered his strongest endorsement of the night: “I believe that you can win the show. Come home.”
Green was not about to let Levine have the final word. Turning the competition into a playful exchange, he asked Chari whether she had ever won The Voice before.
“Have you ever won the voice before? Me either. I was just thinking, maybe we could do it together?” Green joked.
Even Levine acknowledged that his fellow coach had delivered an effective pitch.

But Latifah’s pitch went beyond compliments about Chari’s voice. She spoke about her hopes for her role as a coach and the kind of artist she had wanted to help discover.
Ultimately, Chari chose Queen Latifah, giving the coach the victory in a contest that had drawn enthusiastic pitches from all four judges.
Latifah later revealed just how personally meaningful the moment had been to her.
“When I was asked to be a coach on this show I prayed about it, and this is one of the things I prayed for,” she told the cameras.
“That I could be helpful to someone who is so amazing and deserves to be seen in front of the world.”
Her heartfelt reaction underscored the significance of bringing a singer like Chari onto her team.
Adam Levine Admits Queen Latifah Has a Strong Team
Chari’s decision left the other coaches to accept defeat, with Levine appearing particularly disappointed to have missed out on the singer.
Despite losing the four-chair-turn battle, he offered Queen Latifah a generous assessment of her team, remarking, “I think she’s got the best team right now.”
