The Night Bruce and Patti Set LA Ablaze: A Legendary Rock ‘n’ Roll Surprise

On Thursday, April 4, Bruce Springsteen started a two-night concert at the Kia Forum in Los Angeles, and he had some exciting surprises for his fans right from the beginning!

He kicked off the show with a song called “Boom Boom” by John Lee Hooker. This was a big deal because it was the first time he played it on this tour, and he hadn’t performed it since 2016. The crowd was super excited!

Then came another surprise. Bruce’s wife, Patti Scialfa, joined him on stage. She hasn’t been around much for this tour, so fans were thrilled to see her. Bruce smiled and said, “I’m happy to say my beautiful wife Patti Scialfa is in the house.” Together, they sang “Tougher Than the Rest,” a song from his album Tunnel of Love. It was the first time they’d played it with the E Street Band since 2016, making it extra special.

Next, they did a calm, mostly acoustic version of “Fire.” This was another song they hadn’t played on this tour yet, and the band hadn’t performed it since 2017. The surprises kept coming!

Later in the show, Bruce saw a sign in the crowd asking for a song. He decided to play “Jole Blon,” a fun traditional song from Cajun country. It was the first time he and the band had done it since 2017, and the fans loved it.

Of course, Bruce also played some of his biggest hits that everyone knows, like “Born to Run,” “Hungry Heart,” “Thunder Road,” and “Tenth Avenue Freeze-Out.” The crowd sang along and had a great time.

Bruce Springsteen and the E Street Band will be back at the Kia Forum for another show on Sunday, April 7. After that, they’ll head to the East Coast for more concerts. You can find all the tour dates on his website, brucespringsteen.net.

It was a night full of surprises and awesome music that made everyone—kids and grown-ups alike—smile and cheer!
