Watch: Rod Stewart Performs “Baby Jane” and “Sweet Caroline” at Queen’s Jubilee

The Platinum Jubilee was a big, fancy party held at Buckingham Palace to celebrate Queen Elizabeth II. She wanted to mark her 70 years as queen and show love for her Commonwealth, a group of countries she helped lead. The celebration lasted four days and ended on Saturday night, June 4, with a super cool concert called the Platinum Party at the Palace.

Famous singers like the band Queen, Diana Ross, and Ed Sheeran performed to honor the 96-year-old queen. Another star, Rod Stewart, was picked to sing too, even though the queen couldn’t come because she had trouble moving around.

Rod was excited to be part of it. He told BBC’s Naga Munchetty, “I was so happy they asked me. At first, I thought they didn’t want me, but when I got the call, I was thrilled!” He added, “I’m singing a song I’ve never done before, and it’s a little scary because I didn’t get to practice much.”

When Rod went on stage, he wore a bright yellow jacket and black pants with stripes. He started with his fun song “Baby Jane,” and the crowd sang along, waving British flags. Then, before his next song, he said, “The BBC told me to sing this one. Help me feel okay by singing with me!” The song was “Sweet Caroline,” a tune England fans love. The crowd joined in, shouting “so good, so good” and “bah bah bah” right on time.

Even the royal family—Prince Charles, Camilla, Prince William, Prince George, Kate Middleton, and Princess Charlotte—sang and waved flags too. Everyone had a great time watching Rod perform. You can check out his show below!
