The Voice Makes Two Big Changes Before Cut Week Brings One of the Toughest Eliminations of the Season

The Voice Season 30 is introducing one of its biggest format changes yet, replacing two familiar stages of the competition with a brand-new round called Cut Week.

The milestone season premiered on September 21, 2026, with Kelly Clarkson, Adam Levine, Queen Latifah, and Riley Green serving as coaches. Along with welcoming two new coaches, the show introduced the First In button during the Blind Auditions. Unlike the traditional Block button, this new feature allows the first coach to turn their chair to claim the artist for their team.

Now, another major change is coming as the Battles conclude on October 26. Instead of moving into the usual Knockouts and Playoffs, the remaining contestants will face a new elimination round designed to narrow the competition before the Live Shows begin.

Cut Week is scheduled to air on Monday, November 2, and will be the final stage before the Live Shows kick off on November 9. Both the Knockouts and Playoffs have been removed from this season’s format.

How Will Cut Week Work on The Voice Season 30?

After the Battles, each coach will have seven artists remaining on their team, leaving 28 contestants in total. During Cut Week, Kelly Clarkson, Adam Levine, Queen Latifah, and Riley Green will each select two artists to advance directly to the Live Shows.

The five artists left on each team will then compete for one remaining spot. Once the four coaches have selected their first two contestants and the four team-level spots are decided, 12 artists will have secured their places in the next stage.

However, the competition will not end there. Viewers will get the chance to vote for one additional contestant from any team. The artist who receives the most votes will earn the final spot, bringing the Live Shows lineup to 13 contestants.

With 28 artists entering Cut Week and only 13 moving forward, the new round has been described as the biggest elimination in The Voice history. More than half of the remaining contestants will leave the competition before the live performances begin.

The Voice Also Changes Its Weekly Schedule

The introduction of Cut Week is not the only major adjustment fans need to know about. The Voice has also changed its broadcast schedule for the remainder of Season 30.

The show will no longer air new episodes on Tuesday nights. Instead, it will return once a week, with new episodes airing on Mondays. The change makes room for NBA on NBC coverage on Tuesday evenings.

Starting with Cut Week on November 2, the show will also move from its previous 8 p.m. ET time slot to 9 p.m. ET. The later start time will remain in place for the rest of the season.

The Live Shows will begin on November 9, with the competition continuing through the season finale on December 14. The finale is scheduled to air from 9 p.m. to 11 p.m. ET, when the Season 30 winner will be announced.
