Beyoncé’s mother, Tina Knowles, has subtly responded to Kanye West following his controversial comments about her youngest grandchildren, Rumi and Sir Carter.
After launching a tirade against several celebrities, including Kendrick Lamar, Playboi Carti, and Tyler, The Creator, Kanye took aim at his former collaborator, JAY-Z, in a shocking post on X (formerly Twitter) on March 18. In the post, Kanye insulted Beyoncé and JAY-Z’s 7-year-old twins, calling them “retarded” and making cruel remarks about their children’s birth. The rapper wrote:
“WAIT HAS ANYONE EVER SEEN JAY Z AND BEYONCE’S YOUNGER KIDS. THEY’RE RETARDED. NO LIKE LITERALLY. AND THIS IS WHY ARTIFICIAL INSEMINATION IS A BLESSING. HAVING RETARDED CHILDREN IS A CHOICE.”
The next day, Tina Knowles responded in her own subtle way on Instagram. She posted a “corny joke” that many saw as a veiled dig at Kanye’s childish rant. Tina’s post read:
“What happens when a snowman throws a tantrum? He has a meltdown.”
Her caption followed with a more pointed message:
“It’s hard to remain positive and classy in the face of ignorance and evil but I know that no weapon formed against me or my family shall prosper. [prayer and heart emojis] This battle is not mine, but the Lords, I know that God has got this.”
She later revised her post, changing it to: “Corny joke, time! [heart emoji]”.
After Kanye’s post, he later took it down and addressed his actions in another online post, claiming:
“I NEED EVERYONE TO KNOW THAT I TOOK THE POST ABOUT JAY Z AND BEYONCE’S FAMILY DOWN AND JERRY LORENZO’S FAMILY DOWN BECAUSE THERE WAS A POSSIBILITY OF MY TWITTER BEING CANCELLED BECAUSE IM A GOOD PERSON.”
However, he couldn’t resist doubling down on his comments. He added:
“IF TWITTER TAKE MY SHIT DOWN THEN SO BE IT BUT I NEED YALL TO KNOW JAY Z OR NOBODY HAVE NO POWER OVER ME.”
Kanye then continued his rant against the Carters:
“AT LEAST JAY Z AND BEYONCÉ GET TO RAISE THEIR RETARDED ASS KIDS. AIN’T NO CELEBRITY EVER SAID NOTHING TO COME TO MY AID WHEN IT CAME TO THESE WHITE WOMEN TAKING MY KIDS. CAUSE THEY WAS MAD I WAS WEARING TRUMP HAT. FUCK JAY Z AND HIS WHOLE FAMILY. ESPECIALLY HIS SHOOTERS.”
Despite Kanye’s disturbing outburst, JAY-Z and Beyoncé have yet to publicly respond to the situation.
