Dolly Parton’s husband, Carl Dean, has passed away at the age of 82, as reported by the Associated Press. Dolly shared the sad news through her publicist. The couple had been married for almost 60 years.
Dolly’s official Instagram account posted a message saying, “Carl Dean, husband of Dolly Parton, passed away on March 3rd in Nashville at 82 years old. He will be buried in a small, private ceremony with close family. He leaves behind his siblings, Sandra and Donnie.”
The message went on, “Carl and I had so many happy years together. I can’t fully explain how much we loved each other for over 60 years. Thank you for your prayers and kind thoughts.”
It ended with, “The family asks for privacy during this tough time.”
Dolly and Carl met the day she arrived in Nashville. In a recent interview, Dolly said, “He’s a great guy. He’s quiet, while I’m loud. We’re a funny pair! He’s so funny, and I think that’s why our marriage lasted so long. We love and respect each other, and we always have fun. Whenever things get hard, one of us makes a joke to lighten the mood.”
We send our love and support to Dolly and her family as they go through this sad time.
