In this song, he talks about a woman who seems nice but really wants expensive things, like a fancy car called a Bentley. The words are a bit sharp, and some people wondered if the song is about his ex-wife, Heather Mills.
Paul was married to Heather from 2002 to 2006, and they have a daughter named Beatrice, who is now 17. When they split up, some people said Heather only cared about Paul’s money, but she said that wasn’t true. She told a newspaper in 2010 that she loved Paul for who he was, not his wealth.
Paul’s team said the song is definitely not about Heather. They told a news website, “The song has nothing to do with her. It’s not true to say it is, and saying so hurts the family.”
In an interview with Uncut Magazine, Paul explained that the song is about someone who wasn’t nice to him. He didn’t say who, but he wanted to turn his feelings into a song. He said, “I won’t tell anyone who it’s about, but I know, and some people close to me might guess.” He recorded the song quickly and even used a special guitar his current wife, Nancy Shevell, gave him.
After Paul and Heather’s marriage ended, they had a big disagreement about money. Heather asked for a lot, but a judge gave her about $48 million, which was less than she wanted. She said she was happy with it. Later, in 2015, Heather said some things about Paul working with younger singers like Rihanna and Kanye West. She thought he did it to stay popular, but she also said she loved him when they were together, like any normal couple.
Paul’s new album, McCartney III, is special because he played all the instruments himself, just like he did on his first solo album 50 years ago. He made the album during a time when he stayed home on his farm in England because of the pandemic. He said, “I had fun making music for myself, not for a big job.
