During his headlining set at the UK’s V Festival, JAY-Z took a moment to honor his late friend and collaborator, Chester Bennington of Linkin Park. The two artists had worked together on the groundbreaking 2004 remix EP Collision Course, a legendary project that blended rap and rock. The EP featured six tracks, with “Numb/Encore” standing out as one of the most iconic collaborations, earning the supergroup a Grammy for Best Rap/Sung Collaboration in 2006.

As JAY-Z performed at V Festival, he paused to address Bennington’s death, asking the crowd to light up the night in his memory: “Can you guys light it up tonight for Chester? Linkin Park, one time, tonight. Please make some noise so he can hear you all the way in heaven tonight!”

This emotional moment paid tribute to a rock legend and served as a reminder of the lasting impact Chester Bennington made on music.
