Country music star Jelly Roll showed his big heart at a free concert in Nashville on June 17, 2024. He performed at the River On The Rooftop event with singers Haven Madison and Jessie Murph. They sang their hit song “Wild Ones” together, which got the crowd excited.
During the concert, something special happened. An 18-year-old fan named Joy Gadalla was in the audience. Joy and her family moved from Egypt to the United States for a better life. She worked hard in school, earning great grades with a 3.8 GPA, even though she faced bullying. Joy loves Jelly Roll’s music because his story of overcoming tough times inspired her to chase her dream of becoming a criminal justice lawyer. But she had one big problem: she couldn’t afford college.
Joy decided to ask for help in a bold way. She held up her phone with a message that said, “Please pay my tuition.” After his first song, Jelly Roll noticed her sign. He spoke to her from the stage and said he wanted to change her life. He promised that his team would contact her to learn more about her school plans and grades. If everything checked out, he would help pay for her college.
After the concert, Jelly Roll’s team reached out to Joy. They are still working out the details, but Joy is hopeful. What made the moment even more meaningful is that Joy has been sober for over a year, and Jelly Roll’s music helped her stay strong. He didn’t know this at the time—he just saw someone who needed help and wanted to make a difference.
This isn’t the first time Jelly Roll has been kind. In 2022, he worked with a group that helps young people and even gave $1,000 to a fan at a Whataburger to share with coworkers.
For Joy, meeting Jelly Roll felt like a miracle. With his support, she’s closer to achieving her dream of becoming a lawyer and helping others.
