Scotty McCreery Unveils New Christmas Song Celebrating the Birth of Jesus

Scotty McCreery is getting into the Christmas spirit earlier than usual, but his latest holiday release has a message that goes beyond festive celebrations. The country singer’s new song, “King Size Bed,” focuses on the Nativity and the birth of Jesus Christ, offering a musical reminder of what the season means to him.

McCreery announced the release with a playful nod to the timing. While many people were still preparing for Halloween, he was already sharing Christmas music with his fans. “Couldn’t even make it past Halloween without releasing Christmas music,” he joked in the caption of an Instagram video.

“King Size Bed” arrived on Friday, October 30. Described in a press release as a string-filled ballad centered around the Nativity, the song was co-written by McCreery alongside Brent Anderson, Jeremy Bussey, Monty Criswell, Derek George, Bobby Hamrick and Frank Rogers.

The singer explained that Christmas music has always held a special place in his life, adding that he enjoys singing it throughout the year. With this new release, he wanted to bring attention to the religious meaning behind the holiday.

“I love Christmas music and sing it all year long. With ‘King Size Bed,’ I wanted to celebrate the true reason for the season – the birth of Jesus Christ,” McCreery said.

A Nativity Story Told Through Country Music

The track opens with gentle acoustic guitar before McCreery’s warm vocals take center stage. Its lyrics retell the Nativity story, describing the angels’ celebration and the arrival of the baby Savior.

The song’s central image comes from its title: the humble manger where Jesus was laid is transformed into a “king size bed.” That contrast between the simplicity of the birth setting and the significance of the child gives the song its emotional focus.

Rather than relying on familiar Christmas imagery alone, McCreery places the biblical story at the heart of the arrangement. The combination of acoustic guitar, strings and his country vocal delivery gives the song a reflective holiday atmosphere.

McCreery’s Longstanding Connection to Christmas Music

“King Size Bed” also adds to a holiday music history that dates back to the early years of McCreery’s career. In 2012, the American Idol winner released Christmas With Scotty McCreery, his second studio album and his first Christmas collection.

The record featured 11 tracks, including two original songs, “Christmas in Heaven” and “Christmas Comin’ Round Again,” alongside seasonal standards such as “O Holy Night,” “Winter Wonderland” and “Holly Jolly Christmas.” The album reached No. 2 on Billboard’s Top Country Albums chart.

McCreery later performed “Holly Jolly Christmas” during the 2022 CMA Country Christmas special, where the song became one of the program’s highlights. He is not included in the announced performer lineup for the 2026 edition of the holiday broadcast.

However, fans may have another opportunity to hear his new Christmas material live. McCreery is scheduled to perform at Nashville venue The Truth on December 3.

For now, “King Size Bed” gives listeners a new addition to their holiday playlists, with McCreery using the season’s music to celebrate the story at its center.
