The Voice’s Chari stuns the coaches with her version of Killing Me Softly during Cut Week, but her fate leaves fans caught off guard

Chari delivered one of the most talked-about performances of The Voice Season 30 during Cut Week, putting her own spin on Roberta Flack’s classic “Killing Me Softly.” Although the singer earned strong praise from the coaches, her fate left fans stunned and sparked calls for Queen Latifah to reconsider her decision.

Coaches Praise Chari’s Performance

Chari impressed the panel with her version of “Killing Me Softly,” earning high praise from Riley Green and her coach, Queen Latifah.

“That was one of my favorite performances of the day,” Green admitted. He added that the song was “one of the best ways I’ve heard that song sung,” praising Chari’s ability to deliver a memorable performance.

Queen Latifah was equally impressed, calling Chari’s voice “gorgeous” and highlighting her lower register.

“What you just did down there was disrespectful in the best way. You’re just exquisite,” Latifah told her.

However, the praise did not lead to the outcome many viewers expected. Latifah ultimately chose Lillie Kolich to join Mia Knight and BigCountry in the Live Shows, leaving Chari off the team.

Fans Question Queen Latifah’s Decision

Chari’s elimination surprised viewers who believed her performance deserved a place in the next round. Many praised her unique interpretation of the classic song, while others openly questioned why she was not selected.

One fan wrote, “To make THAT song your own after it’s had its own identity for so long?? That’s an ARTIST move!🔥🔥🔥”

“She was my obvious choice to make the cut. I’m actually in shock she didn’t !!!” one person commented.

Others directly addressed Latifah’s decision. “Queen Latifah we love you, but you will rue the day you let Chari walk off that stage,” a fan wrote.

Another disappointed viewer added, “Disappointed …. This is music.. this is art.”
