The Voice’s Liv Ciara, 16, breaks her silence after finishing in second place and shares what fans did not expect to hear

For The Voice runner-up Liv Ciara, the finale of Season 29 wasn’t just about where she placed—it was about everything that led her there.

Just hours after the results were announced, the 16-year-old from St. Peters shared a deeply personal message, choosing gratitude over disappointment as she looked back on a season that reshaped her confidence and identity as an artist.

A Message Rooted in Gratitude

She began simply, writing: “there is so much i need to say, so i’ll start by saying thank you.” From there, she turned her attention to the show itself, adding, “thank you to the voice. you have given me a second chance after facing rejection last season.”

That second chance clearly meant everything. Liv described how the experience helped her discover a confidence she “never had before,” giving her what she called “a new sense of confidence and faith” and the belief that she could achieve “so many great things” with continued effort.

Finding Strength Through Support

Beyond the stage, Liv highlighted the people who stood behind her throughout the competition. “thank you to my supporters, friends and family,” she wrote, acknowledging how their encouragement carried her through moments of doubt. In a world she described as “full of so much negativity,” she said it felt “truly beautiful” to feel that level of support.

She also took a moment to uplift her fellow finalists, including winner Alexia Jayy, sharing: “i love you guys. you are each so special and so deserving.” Standing beside them, she added, was something she viewed as a privilege, and she expressed excitement to see “where you each will shine your light next.”

The Impact of Kelly Clarkson

The most emotional part of her message was reserved for her coach, Kelly Clarkson.

“finally, thank you kelly. you have helped me grow as an artist in so many ways,” Liv wrote, crediting Clarkson with pushing her to take risks and embrace her true identity. She continued with a heartfelt note: “you are so special, talented and beautiful inside and out, and i have been so blessed to be able work with you.”

Their connection had been evident throughout the season, especially after Clarkson turned for her during the blind auditions, setting the stage for one of the show’s most compelling growth arcs.

A Journey That Started With Rejection

Liv’s run in Season 29 carried added weight because of where it began. Just one season earlier, she had auditioned and received no chair turns—a setback that could have ended her journey before it truly started.

Instead, she returned stronger, ultimately earning a spot on Team Kelly and delivering standout performances, including her widely praised rendition of “Flashdance… What a Feeling,” which showcased both her vocal control and emotional depth.

More Than a Finish Line

While Liv confirmed she did not win Season 29—finishing behind Alexia Jayy—her message made it clear that the outcome didn’t define her experience. “words cannot express the emotions and gratitude i am feeling in this moment… this experience has given me the courage and confidence to pursue my dreams,” she wrote.

She closed with a quiet sense of determination: “it’s been a wild ride, but i’m just getting started. this is just the beginning.”

In the hours following the finale, fans echoed that sentiment, praising her growth, authenticity, and presence throughout the season—signs that her journey may be far from over.
