Growing up in Northern England, he said people constantly tried to “tone down” his spirit. One particularly scarring moment came when a teacher publicly shamed him for painting his nails, leaving him questioning himself. The passive-aggressive remarks from peers and adults, he revealed, were some of the most painful experiences of his youth.
But amid the negativity, one teacher—his drama coach, Mr. Yet—recognized YUNGBLUD’s intensity as a gift. He encouraged the young rebel to channel his passion into performance, ultimately transforming what others saw as a flaw into a “superpower.”
