The worldwide theatrical release captures Ozzy’s final performance and the original Black Sabbath lineup at Birmingham’s Villa Park, filmed just 17 days before his death
Ozzy Osbourne and Black Sabbath will return to the big screen with Ozzy & Black Sabbath: Back to the Beginning, a new concert film documenting their historic farewell performance at Birmingham’s Villa Park.
The film will open in cinemas worldwide on October 28, 2026 for a limited theatrical run through Trafalgar Releasing and Mercury Studios. Tickets go on sale September 24.
Captured on July 5, 2025, the concert became Ozzy’s final live appearance. He performed a solo set before reuniting with original Black Sabbath members Tony Iommi, Geezer Butler and Bill Ward for the first time together in more than 20 years. Osbourne died 17 days later, on July 22, 2025.
The film includes material from Ozzy’s solo set and Black Sabbath’s final performance, along with behind-the-scenes footage and reflections from musicians who participated in the event. The all-day concert also featured Metallica, Guns N’ Roses, Slayer, Tool, Pantera, Alice in Chains, Anthrax, Gojira, Halestorm, Lamb of God, Mastodon and Rival Sons, among others.
Tom Morello served as musical director for the original event, while Jason Momoa hosted. The concert film was directed for the screen by Ben Wainwright-Pearce, with the live concert directed by Tim van Someren.
The theatrical presentation runs approximately 2 hours and 27 minutes and will be presented in Dolby Atmos and 5.1 surround sound.
For Black Sabbath, the film preserves the final performance by the classic lineup of Ozzy Osbourne, Tony Iommi, Geezer Butler and Bill Ward. For Ozzy, it documents the last time he appeared onstage before his death.
