Blake Shelton and Keith Urban Hit the Road with New CBS Reality Series “The Road”

After a celebrated run as a coach on The Voice, country superstar Blake Shelton is turning his attention to a new venture: mentoring emerging artists on the rugged and exhilarating path of touring life. Shelton, eager to share his wealth of experience, said, “If young up-and-coming artists ever look to me for advice or something, I damn sure have plenty of it to give.”

Teaming up with fellow country icon Keith Urban and acclaimed Yellowstone creator Taylor Sheridan, Shelton is launching The Road, a fresh CBS reality series premiering this fall. The show promises an authentic, behind-the-scenes look at the demanding world of touring musicians. Contestants will compete for the coveted opportunity to open for Urban at various venues across America, with audience reactions determining which artists advance to the next city.

Adding further depth to the series, country music powerhouse Gretchen Wilson—best known for her hit “Redneck Woman”—will take on the role of tour manager. Wilson’s presence brings real-world insight as she mentors contestants and manages the many challenges of life on the road, enriching the show’s portrayal of the music industry’s highs and lows.

The partnership between Shelton and Urban couldn’t come at a more exciting time. At the 2025 Academy of Country Music Awards, Keith Urban was honored with the prestigious Triple Crown Award, recognizing his impressive achievements as New Artist, Male Vocalist, and Entertainer of the Year. In his heartfelt acceptance speech, Urban thanked his wife Nicole Kidman and their daughters, while expressing enthusiasm for the upcoming tour and the launch of The Road.

With its focus on genuine mentorship and the realities of touring, The Road is poised to offer audiences an inspiring and unfiltered glimpse into the dreams and determination fueling country music’s next generation. Fans and aspiring artists alike will soon witness firsthand what it truly takes to chase stardom down America’s highways.
