Playboi Carti Drops New Album Music Featuring Multiple Kendrick Lamar Appearances

Kendrick Lamar

Playboi Carti has officially released his highly anticipated new album titled Music, and fans are buzzing about Kendrick Lamar’s surprise appearances across several tracks.

The album dropped on March 14, and hours before its release, Carti shared the full tracklist, revealing Kendrick Lamar as a featured artist on “Good Credit”, while his verses and vocals are subtly woven into “Backd00r” and “Mojo Jojo” as well.

Kendrick Lamar’s Lyrics: Hidden Gems Across the Album

On “Good Credit”, Kendrick delivers a sharp verse where he name-drops A$AP Relli and NBA star Luka Dončić, who recently joined the Los Angeles Lakers:

“The numbers says nothing, the money is nothing, I really been held my promise / Say Kenny been heavy out West and I carry the weight, ngga, I’m Luka Dončić…”*

On “Backd00r,” Kendrick’s uncredited appearance brings a smoother, introspective vibe:

“I’ma make it back it all and probably spend it all on you / Come through from the back so don’t nobody talk…”

And on “Mojo Jojo,” Kendrick drops a melodic spoken intro that fans are calling classic K.Dot energy:

“Ay, Carti, I need that Back to the Future Carti… that extraterrestrial Carti…”

Music Features Star-Studded Guest List & a New Genre Vibe

The album features 30 tracks and includes collaborations with:

  • Travis Scott
  • The Weeknd
  • Future
  • Skepta
  • Lil Uzi Vert
  • Ty Dolla $ign
  • Young Thug

Music marks Carti’s first album since 2020’s Whole Lotta Red and represents a bold new direction. According to producer Cardo, he and Carti have been developing a brand-new subgenre they call “burnt music.”

“We’ll be in the studio, like, ‘This music is burnt,’” Cardo told Billboard, citing inspirations like Three 6 Mafia’s DJ Paul and Juicy J, DJ Toomp, The Legendary Traxster, and even Halloween composer John Carpenter.

This album is Carti’s most experimental project yet — and Kendrick’s layered features are already sparking deep analysis from fans and critics alike.
