Eminem has officially made history, becoming the first artist to win Best Hip Hop ten times at the MTV Europe Music Awards (EMAs) — a record that solidifies his legendary status in the world of hip hop.
The milestone moment happened during the 30th anniversary of the MTV EMAs, held on November 10 at Manchester’s Co-op Live. Competing against some of today’s biggest names — including Kendrick Lamar, Megan Thee Stallion, Nicki Minaj, Travis Scott, and Central Cee — Marshall Mathers took home his 10th Best Hip Hop award, raising his total EMA wins to 15 overall.
While Taylor Swift and Post Malone won Best Video for Fortnight, Eminem’s historic win was a major highlight of the night for hip hop fans across the globe.
Though he didn’t attend the event in person, Eminem delivered a pre-recorded message in classic Slim Shady fashion, opening with a playful greeting:
“Hey EMAs, whaddup, you bloody wankers!”
He followed up with a heartfelt thank-you to his fans, his creative team, and everyone who helped make the win possible:
“Thank you for this award. I appreciate you all… Sorry I couldn’t be there right now. As you can see, I’m hard at work cleaning my studio.”
He also thanked collaborators Steve Miller and Rich Lee, before signing off with a promise to see fans soon — hinting that he’s back in work mode, possibly on new music.
Despite this win, Eminem still sits behind Justin Bieber (22 EMA wins) and Taylor Swift (19) in total EMA awards. But his ten consecutive Best Hip Hop wins now stand unmatched, further cementing his influence and dominance in the genre.
