WHY SHE IS NOT DATING — Kelly Clarkson Reveals Why She’s Staying Single After Her Ex-Husband’s De@th and What Now Takes Up Most of Her Time

Kelly Clarkson has opened up about why dating is nowhere near the top of her priorities right now, explaining that the life she has built around her children finally feels peaceful — and she isn’t willing to give that up.

The singer discussed her relationship status during a recent appearance on the Las Culturistas podcast, months after the de@th of her former husband Brandon Blackstock, the father of her two children.

Blackstock died in August 2025 at age 48 following a private battle with cancer. Clarkson and Blackstock, who married in 2013 and finalized their divorce in 2022, shared daughter River and son Remington.

For Clarkson, the biggest reason she isn’t looking for another relationship is simple: her children need stability, and she wants to be there for them.

She explained that after everything her family has experienced, bringing another person into their lives isn’t something she wants to rush. Her children remain the center of the decisions she is making about both her personal life and career.

Clarkson also admitted she genuinely enjoys being single.

After years of an extremely demanding schedule, she said she finally doesn’t feel constantly exhausted. The quieter pace has allowed her to appreciate ordinary moments that she previously struggled to find enough time for.

And that is where one major change in her life has happened: spending time with her children has become a huge part of her everyday routine.

Clarkson said she now gets to do simple things with River and Remington — cooking together, playing games and simply being present — without constantly having to divide her attention between parenting and an enormous television workload.

That change became possible after she ended The Kelly Clarkson Show following seven seasons. Clarkson previously explained that stepping away was ultimately about her children and having more space in her life for them during a major family transition.

When it comes to dating, Clarkson doesn’t appear to be declaring that she will remain single forever. Instead, she says she currently loves the life she has and doesn’t feel motivated to sacrifice valuable time with her kids in order to pursue a relationship.

That distinction is important. Clarkson isn’t describing herself as closed off to happiness — she is saying that, right now, she already feels happy with how her life is structured.

After years dominated by television production, music, touring and major changes in her personal life, Clarkson appears to have entered a very different chapter: one built around her children, a less exhausting schedule and the freedom to decide how she spends her time.

And for now, romance simply doesn’t compete with that.
